I know what it is to lose yourself in a relationship. I also know there can be life on the other side.

She Chose Herself grew from my journey through abuse and the work of learning my worth again. Leaving was part of my story. Healing, setting boundaries, and learning what healthy love looks like became another part.

My Christian faith is woven into that journey. I share it alongside my story because I want another woman to know she is loved by God, her voice matters, and she does not have to earn the right to be safe.

I write under the name Lúile Ó Dubhda for my safety. Here, I share what I have chosen to make public, with the hope that my words help someone feel less alone.

HEALING & FAITH

Small steps.
Still forward.

There is no deadline for becoming yourself again. Start with the reminder you need today.

“The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart.”

PSALM 34:18 · KJV, EXCERPT
Your boundaries are allowed.

You can pause before answering. You can choose what you share. You can ask for space. A boundary gives your needs a voice, even when saying it feels unfamiliar.

A gentle question: What is one small boundary that would give you room to breathe?

Healing can have uneven days.

A difficult day does not erase the steps you have taken. You can miss familiar things, feel grief, and still want a healthier future. Support can meet you in the middle of those feelings.

A gentle question: Who can you reach out to when today feels heavy?

Your worth is already yours.

Someone else’s treatment of you does not define what you deserve. You do not have to prove you are lovable by accepting harm. You are worthy of care and respect today.

A gentle reminder: Faith and seeking help can belong together. Protecting yourself is not a failure of faith.
